The Padma ring is a vintage 1.5 carat diamond engagement ring from the Art Deco era, circa 1926! This ring centers a GIA Certified old European cut diamond weighing 1.50 carats of H color, VS1 clarity. The diamond is set in 4 tab-style prongs in a platinum setting. 16 single cut diamonds encircle the entire basket. The gallery of the ring has scrolling, open metalwork. An additional 3 single cut diamonds line the shoulders on each side, followed by delicate hand engravings that encircle the entire shank. The year 1926 is engraved in script along the inner shank as well! The ring is size 6 and can be resized!

So many lovely details packed into one stunning ring! In true Art Deco form, this beautiful 1.5 carat diamond engagement ring combines sleek style with an ornate sensibility. Just look at how the tab-style prongs balance out the basket and present a solid geometric foundation against the more flowery patterns of the open metalwork. Between these patterns and the hand engraving along the outer shank, the Padma ring presents many elements that work so well together!

And the main attraction? The sizeable 1.5 carat diamond, of course! The diamond in this ring is very bright and white! The diamonds that line the basket also add a lovely touch, giving off a gentler sparkle beneath the glow of the center stone!

When it comes to diamonds, a carat is the standard unit of measurement for weight (not to be confused with a karat, which is how we measure the purity of gold). Since the early 1900s, carat weight has been measured against the metric system. One carat equals 0.2 grams (0.007 ounces).

So, what’s so great about carats? For one, it can take up to one million rough diamonds to produce just a single carat diamond! While the average carat for an engagement ring is between 0.5 and 1, a 1.5 carat diamond engagement ring like Padma is in a class of its own!

Beyond that, carats are one of the “4 Cs” of diamonds, along with cut, color and clarity. It’s important to consider these factors together because each can affect the appearance of the other. Certain cuts can enhance or diminish the appearance of the carats. It’s also important to consider the ring size, as both finger and hand size play against the carat weight, the cut, and the overall size of the diamond! With Padma, these elements come together in a wonderful piece that your significant other is sure to love!
