Yellow Gold Cigar Band Engagement Ring

The Selena ring is a yellow gold cigar band engagement ring from the Edwardian Era, circa 1905! This beautiful ring centers a 1.01 carat old European cut diamond of approximately M-N color, VS2 clarity. The diamond is bezel-set in a gorgeous 14 karat yellow gold setting. To each side is a bezel-set rose cut diamond. The setting has a cigar-band shape and features scrolling metal work and hand engravings. Subtle patina adds to the antique feel of the ring. The ring is size 7.25 and can be resized!

Why We Love It

We’re absolutely in love with the shape of this ring! Add to that an absolutely stunning, bright, and lively OEC and you have a one-of-a-kind, beautiful engagement ring! Between the yellow gold and the patina, you get warmth, character, and a setting that flatters every skin tone! Best of all, even with that ornate bezel setting, the diamond is still the star of the show!

Passion For Patina!

Patina refers to the subtle sheen or color that develops over a metal through a process of oxidation. Because it can take generations to develop, it is highly valued and sought out passionately! With some vintage rings patina can be obvious; other times—as we see in this ring—it’s more understated. Either way, it always carries a certain je ne sais quoi!

The word itself, patina, actually comes from Latin, often translated as “a shallow dish.” Historians believe that the discovery of the patina process occurred as copper dinnerware began to age, which is why the word we use today is more concerned with metal and less concerned with dishes!

Edwardian Era Engagement Ring Characteristics

It’s probably impossible to choose any single ring as the quintessential vintage style. However, this yellow gold cigar band ring comes pretty close. Its ornate style reflects the optimism of the Edwardian Era, as well as its fascination with flowing, organic designs. At the same time, it would fit well with earlier Victorian styles when yellow gold had just come back in style—or even earlier with its classic bezel setting!

The Selena ring has all the best qualities of a vintage Edwardian ring. Here’s why:

  • Yellow gold offers timeless value
  • The bezel setting predates the classic prong setting and provides greater security for the diamond
  • The old European cut diamond involves a vintage, hand-cut process that produces unique faceting!

Q: Can we see the rings in person?

A. Yes! We are available by appointment in NYC! Feel free to Contact Us or call us to set up an appointment! Read all about appointments here!

Q: Can my ring be resized?

A. Yes! We offer one complimentary resizing and MOST rings can be resized. Each additional resize is $80. Contact us to see if a certain ring can be sized to your preference! Keep in mind that resizing can take up to a 1 week.

Q: Do you do custom work?

A. Yes! We do indeed do custom work when we source the center stone and we work exclusively with antique diamonds! We are not currently creating settings for stones that we do not source. The custom process starts at $10,000.

Q: What about diamond certification?

A. We wrote a whole page on your questions on diamond certification here!

Q: What is your return policy?

A. We are on a mission to pair people with their Dream Ring! If you are not happy with your purchase, we accept returns within 5 days of receiving the ring. Contact us and we will send you a return label to ship it back. Once we receive the ring in its original condition then we will issue a full refund. It may take a few days for the funds to show up in your account depending on your bank.

Q: What types of payments do you accept?

A. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, certified check, bank transfer, and Affirm. Important note if you are using a credit/debit card: Most banks impose a spending limit so you may have to contact them to have that changed for a purchase or to let them know that you are making a large purchase. We are also able to split payments over multiple cards! For this option, you can contact us and we can walk you through it!

Q: Will an "out of stock" item be restocked?

A: Unfortunately not! These are all one of a kind vintage and antique engagement rings so there is no other ring quite like it! Sometimes we can recreate a sold piece so Contact Us if there is a style that you can't get off your mind! For some of the vintage-inspired pieces, we can often recreate the ring!

Q: Will you sell the setting without the center stone?

A: Unfortunately not! We do not sell only settings and we try to preserve the vintage integrity so we do not separate the diamonds from the setting.

Q: What shipping do you offer?

A. We offer FREE overnight shipping Monday through Friday in the continental US. The package will come in a UPS or FedEx box and will not have our name on it in case it is a surprise! An adult signature is required upon delivery. The billing address on your order must match the shipping address. International shipments have a flat fee of $100 USD. Contact us for more information on international shipments.

Q: Do you offer payments plans?

A. We do offer layaway plans! Engagement rings can be a large purchase and we want you to be able to get the one that you want before someone else snatches up that one-of-a-kind piece! We offer up to 60-day installment plans and are happy to split payments over multiple cards if needed. Since layaway rings are taken off the market for extended periods of time, they are exchangeable but not returnable. Payments are non-returnable for payment plans. Contact us at info@victorbarbone.com to set up a plan that works for you!

Q: What countries do you ship to?

A. We ship to the United States, Canada, the UK, most European countries, Australia, as well as many other countries. Feel free to contact us to see if we ship to your country! There are often duties and taxes associated with importing jewelry so you can contact your country's customs agency for help in calculating that cost! Shipping on international shipments is a flat $100 USD fully insured.

If we haven't answered your question here, feel free to Contact Us or call us at 646-867-8772 and we will answer any questions you may have!
